Christy @ Blenko has left a new comment on your post "OK - Now Its Time To Start Holiday Shopping!":

The artist that handpainted our ornament and also handpaints on other glass available for sale in the Visitor Center is Wendy Lemley. She is from Fairview WV. I do not know if she is any relation to Don Lemley, the Antique Dept. manager. She was referred to us by the daughters of Charlie Gibson, owner of Gibson Glass. She is extremely talented and pretty much can paint any idea that you come up with.

I think I know where Blenko got this Idea from. I have oraments that have birds on them in plastic. Very nice in glass. You know that they also used deers and racoons and rabbits in some that I have. I wish that I still had some of the oraments that would of been at least 59 or so years old they made such awesome designs back then. Roxie

Lovely work, something you could leave up most of the year.
Roxie, I have some from the 1950's that were my mothers, plus quite a few from the 1990's and 2000's, that are birds and flowers, that are all hand-painted on glass. Most are German, Czech or Polish. (one of the other glass items I collect). This would make a special addition, too far to drive to get one.
If the artist does commissions, what a great idea for a special gift for someone.

In response to your comments, I'm sure the artist would do a special commision, but I will ask her the next time I talk to her for permission to give out her phone # & e-mail. She is great to work with so I'm sure there won't be a problem. Yes, the ornament is Blenko, made by Randy Rider and I believe Justin Chafin helped him. Basically the ornament is just an extended concept of our bubbles we just add the top hook. They are getting better & better, and believe it or not they are pretty lightweight. If we have time Randy will be making more ornaments for the VC, hopefully with a pretty optic. Ours aren't like the other ornaments we sell that come from other WV studios, but that's fine. It offers people different looks. We will be doing another limited edition ornament that I have described in one of the other categories and it will be available to sell as soon as we get it back from the painter. It will be snowmen. You might call Mendy or Diana if you think you want one regardless of the fact that I don't have a pic of it yet. Tell them Christy said they could take advance orders on it. I will tell them on Monday myself.
