Title

Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Blenko 3203

Doc Glasslady, Recently we purchased a home filled with windows. I'm looking for the large Blenko Glass bottles, can you post photos and what price I should pay, also helpful would be a list of good sellers for these items.
Matt Hall

Matt, Wayne Husted is credited with the large floor vases made at Blenko Glass. You may want to consider purchasing at Blenko Glass. Several designs are currently being made, or have been made in the last 2 -3 years. This photo is of my favorite vase, I own this one in Ruby, Cobalt, and the old orange. Tomorrow I'll publish photos of other large floor vases available for purchase at Blenko Glass. My other suggestion for vintage is to check out the Blenko Glass inspired websites - look for photos you like, then either hire a glasshunter, or start going to estate sales. You might also check out Kissin Kate's website, Purple Moon (Charleston, WV) and Trophy Hair (Charleston, WV) .
Good Luck!

You want to be careful when placing Blenko decanters in sunlight. Although beautiful in direct sun, the decanters tend to "sweat" inside causing mineral deposit stains that are not easy to remove.

Checked out the new Blenko site. Nice! Like the way they show the rounds, bricks and sheet glass. Nicely done. I like no.1209. Looks like it is mother of pearl or the next thing to it.I have seen all of Hillary's large glass bottles with stoppers, they would look lovely setting in window seals. You could mix and match and add smaller bottles. Is winter here early? The trees have finally peeked I do believe. Rain, rain, rain! It does get boring sometimes.Well who is going to win the big football game between WVU and Marshall? We all know who I am wanting to win. Did Blenko make any tropies for this most important game? It is near Halloween where are the pumkins and where is the picture of the fruit and veggie baskets? Thanksgiving and all. Blenko does make some wonderful glass fruit and veggies, and the pumkins are great. Better than any I have seen anywhere. God Bless and don't forget to say alittle prayer. Roxie

I am looking to sell a 2009 WV Birthday piece. It is in excellent condition. I believe it's #103. The asking price is $450. Payment would need to be paid by US Postal money order. If you have any questions, please contact me at heatherjcooper@bellsouth.net.
Thank you. Heather

I place a paper towel under each stopper this has worked successfully for over 30 years.
Margie Hale
my friend uses dryer sheets in the bottom, but paper towel trapped between bottle and stopper works.

Google Damon Crain. Hilary write about him and uses his photos in the blog as he is 'the' expert on Blenko glass and also a nationally known photographer. She's fortunate as are we to have this source.
When you want quality not quanity shop Damon Crain.
