Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Items in the VC

We get 20 emails a week asking whats in the Visitor Center Gift Shop. We are 3+ hours away. So other than the items listed on the website, or when Kissin Kate is kind enough to send a photo of the gift shop we don't have a clue. We have written several times to ask Blenko Glass about photos and availability of items when response comes we immediately publish that response or the photos if photos are attached.
We are NOT an employee of Blenko Glass. Like you, we collect and admire Blenko Glass. We have no inside information. We don't get or give discounts, and we 'know nothing' most of the time.
We rely on the experienced, knowledgeable collectors who read and share their knowledge.
As always we will try to find answers to your questions, but do not assume we have the 'answers'.
While I don't like comments about management, production, quality etc. I will post as long as you can keep the comments positive. Our goal is to promote WV Glass, let us work together to create a glass collecting network
and not fight amongst ourselves or with others.

Thank you.
HJH

Today I did receive 2 emails from Blenko I'm publishing both.
This email is in response to a request to learn what might be available at the Gift Shop! Note no mention of price, or date these items might be available.

They are beautiful and you'll want to add this to your "Must Have" list for next year!

Hillary,
Also, here are some photos of some new necklace and keychain pieces that are a through back to an earlier time. We have recieved nonstop requests for anything Zodiac since we stopped making the last set of zodiac pieces. So we will be making these in various colors this next year. The pictured pieces are cobalt. I hope you have a happy holiday.

Thanks,
Katie Trippe

when are you going to print the story about Husted and the variations project?i and others would like to read it.
Husted was the best thing to happen to Blenko.
What about Hank Adams? Why not do a story on him?He was another fine designer right beside Wayne

We also admire Husted and Adams.
We'll publish the Variations story when we acquire photos and get an approval from Mr. Husted.

Blenko needs to hire a photographer or a graphic artist to get good pixs.
Immediately this hould be a top priority.

Why are they too busy to send photos?
Is the business this good?

So let me get this, blenko sent 2 photos one of charms they don't have in stock
and another of a paper weight?
These are the items they want to see?
Why not expensive limited items?
Most of us are out of state readers, the web page for Blenko is lacking new items.
Am I the only person to find this strange?
