Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Vintage Blenko sounds interesting and I cant wait to see some pictures. B would be delighted with some as she is the collector. I hope we can find more items in the blenko website compared to what Ive seen last yr in June at the visitor center, which had a hundreds of items and not all are available online for us to look at. How is blenko doing this yr? I am sure they made a lot of customers this yr and more to come. Please do post some pictures and I promise we will continue our support by buying and letting others know about the WV glass company.

You are right phani they aren't available on line, so plz make my pea size brain understand why the
blenko people fail to send glasslady photos?
This is what 3-4 years now we are hearing her complain about not getting photos.
Looking back very few photos are listed as being from blenko.
Glasslady could be showing new glass daily, and we're stupid enough to buy the glass.
So probably good news for my hubby as the no photos means no shopping or phoning the factory to order.

wake up people!Blenkos doesnt care about anything but the allmighty dollar! They dont care about customer service,or getting pics to Hillary to post because it doesnt mean anything to them. They feel that the name BLENKO will sell anything they make wheather its quaility or not they dont need to do what needs to be done until they run out of money then go public with pity poor Blenko again like last year. Maybe this time if it happens again they will open their eyes when few show up for the goig out of business sale!

Bridgett made an honest mistake in assuming Limley was dead.
Glasslady said he was no longer at Blenko.
Would anyone in a million years think Limley would leave on 2 feet?
No.
Bridgett's assumption was based on fact and her perception on reality.
Glasslady can no longer say " Blenko is a family".

They do not send pictures because that sounds like work. They do only the minimum amount of work possible. -----They = the office girls.----

That was the bad thing about seeing Lemly get fired. He loved working at Blenko and he truly cared about the factory and the other men that worked there. Out of all the guys I spoke with he was the only one that ever defended Ms. Trippe the new manager. He said she was young and would learn the glass bus. and he was going to help her. Then she turns on him and gets Walter Blenko to fire him. Now thats gratitude for you. I'll bet he uses thier nickname for Katie now. All that aside some lucky company around here will get a great employee when they hire Lemly. If I had a bigger office I would hire him in a minute. And I can't fire my wife to hire somebody else.

I think Walter Blenko is clueless.Or just does not care. He puts a young inexperienced girl in charge. The ladies in the office have WAY TO MUCH influence over this child. When Walter removed some of the useless management he should have had a plan. A plan to put someone in charge who knew and understood glass making, with management skills and definitely not a Blenko employee. Someone who could tell the talented and hardworking employees from those who do as little as possible. If Ms Trippe is getting paid minimum wage,it is to much. Why would Walter promote this girl to Asst. VP when she was not doing a good job with the job she had. If she was selling glass the company would not be so broke. Don wasn't selling so he was let go. From what I hear the VC has carried that place for some time. Yet they don't even take full advantage if that. They should have begged the VC girls from about a year ago to stay.

That was just an excuse. Lemly was not a salesman he was a dept. manager. So how can you fire him if the sales are down. Sales are down everywhere in every industry not just glass. If I had to get rid of an employee it would not be a talented 20 year guy. Gimme a break!
Sales are down in glassware she needs to get rid of herself since she is running that part of the factory. Right?

Enough bashing of the blenko office.
Glasslady wants us to play w/o fighting and to put away toys and poision pens.

Care to tell me who the salesman is(or was) for the stained glass department? I always bought from Lemly. And yes Ms Trippe should be gone.

Brent was the salesman for antique but they fired him along with Rick and Gene. They never hired another salesman.Again they felt Blenko would just sell itself because of the*NAME* if they have an order and wont make the glass to fill it was that Lemleys fault? He didnt make the glass just tried to get managment to make the glass so he could fill the orders

There has not been an antique salesman since Boyd Meadows. They hired Brent Aikmen. But he did not last. Lemly took over for Red Powers who was the dept manager.
