Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Valentine's Day - Think Blenko

Blenko Glass www.blenkoglass.com is gearing up for the Valentine's Day holiday.
The guys are making ruby glass, hearts, and many one of a kind suprises.
You'll want to visit Blenko Glass outlet/gift shop in Milton for Valentine's Day gifts.
If you plan to send flowers to the man / woman in your life. Consider asking the florist for a Made In West Virginia or Blenko vase.
Better yet, drive down to Milton or order the vase on line and carry it to the florist or your local Kroger store ( I buy flowers each Wednesday from Krogers- for less than $8 I have fresh flowers in my Blenko vase weekly).
Think BLENKO GLASS for all holiday gift giving!
Support your community, Buy Made In West Virginia and when possible buy make your purchases in your community.

Do you think Blenko will be making ruby glass?
Is the factory working, yesterday I heard large lay off.
We had business in Charleston - I lobby part time - later drove down to Milton. Very little in the gift shop.
I saw no red glass.
No hearts, perhaps you need to direct dial the gift shop before you announce an item is available.
We did buy 2 vases to use for Secretary's Day.
Anyone with updated news about the factory?

Ron Hinkle makes a number of heart items, Dave Osburn does a heart to hold flowers and a heart candy dish.
V -- Day items made in USA are available if not in Blenko
try Tamarack
or on line, but buy only hand crafted.

Hilary
Thank you for daily writing about blenko glass. I appreciate your devotion, your postive attitude and your determination to have blenko in the daily news.
We as readers and people who enjoy talking about and buying glass should edit our comments, reduce the negative and focus on the positive.
Thank you for allowing me to get this off my mind.

Would the items be available on the blenko website?

Blenko is really bad about not making enough "holiday" glass. So they hold it for a special day or weekend sale. Makes no sense to me.Looks like they would let the men work longer, make more glass, and sale the glass a few weeks earlier (or year round). They miss so many sales by not keeping the Visitors Center fully stocked. Many people only get a chance to shop the VC once or twice a year. The VC should always stock Holiday Glass ( snowmen, angels, pumpkins.hearts.red glass, eggs rabbits,...........) It would keep the men working, and make the VC a amazing place to shop EVERY TIME.

Yeah Margie! I come and look and some days it is a mess. Glad to here someone else let everyone know we are done with the negative. Valentines Day is on it's way. I like talking about the frogs. We had some fun days with Sol. Brings a smile to my face. Hillary puts up with all of it and still manages to give us good articles about glass. I love those little clowns. God Bless Roxie
