Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Vintage Blenko

Group of vases including a Pre designer 3745S optic vase in Amethyst, Myers #6514 rolled lip in Peacock and #6524S rolled lip in honey.
photo from Heart of Glass friend Bruce S.

Our friends from Iowa ask for photos of vintage Blenko for their 'we want' notebook. The request was " can you post photos of the non sexy - no unusual faces or designs - but good designs that we can as a group look for."
In response to the request Bruce S of Texas sent several photos of
vintage glass.

wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does except wrinkles. Some wines do improve with age, but with Blenko Glass it seems the older is much better. . . this is my observation as a new collector . . .what do you all think?

Disagreeing doesn’t have to be rude or disrespectful. There is a tactful way to do it. Simply state that you disagree and more importantly explain why.

This is your time to shine and potentially prove you are a credible source. This may also engage other readers and the author.

Back up your reasons with facts and useful information. Saying you disagree just for the sake of disagreeing is pretty pointless.

Make ‘em Laugh
when you disagree and we'll all think you are brillant.
We don't have to be unkind or nasty in comments about the glass management or lack there of, or other blog issues.

Bruce,

you have a wonderful opportunity to shoot glass and you are doing a great job. I hope when B arrives, we will make a trip to Dallas to visit your store, I am guessing you have one or is this your personal collection? She will be delighted to have an opportunity to view glass.

Phani,
I do not have a store but a love for the beauty of hand made objects whether they be glass, pottery, textile or painting. It is the unique individuality of each that gives me joy. Would love to share an afternoon if ya'll make it down this way.

P.S. the Honey piece is mis-numbered, Should be 6524S.
